Tasmanian Devil original wildlife painting titled Trev by Australian artist Sheree Clayden

Trev — Tasmanian Devil

Trev is a baby Tasmanian devil, and I mean, look at that face. The first thing you notice is the eyes. Not fierce. Not wild. Just... watching.

We'd hoped to see devils in the wild while travelling around Tasmania. The night we'd planned to go looking it was snowing, so common sense won and we met them at a wildlife sanctuary instead.

Tasmanian devils are endangered, their populations devastated by Devil Facial Tumour Disease, a rare contagious cancer passed between devils. There's something heartbreaking about the possibility of losing an animal found nowhere else in the wild.

A little wild, a little weird, and far too special to lose.
